Columbus Knew the Dangers of the Muslim Tax Man

Money Jihad
October 11, 2010

Time for a short Columbus Day history lesson.

Christian Constantinople fell to the Muslim Ottoman Empire in 1453. The Ottomans had also gained control of the vital Silk Road to the Far East. What did this mean for Christian Europe and the soon-to-be discovered Americas? Prof. Cynthia Smith of the University of Hawaii describes it very well:

There is one final consequence of Ottoman expansion and control, perhaps the most important from the perspective of world history. The Ottoman Empire, by the end of the 15th century, controlled the Near East and Eastern Mediterranean region. This meant control of the land routes linking the Silk Road connections between Asia and the Mediterranean. We at SFW are certainly not celebrating this occasion, but we bring it up for a very good reason.

Though you wouldn’t know it from visiting Qatar Islamic Bank’s web site, because they choose not to disclose their Shariah advisory board there, the chairman of the bank’s Shariah Advisory Board is none other than Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a man we have referred to in the past as “Creepy Qaradawi.”

ABC News
September 24, 2010

The FBI raided two homes in Chicago and five homes and an office in Minneapolis as part of an anti-terror investigation.

No one was arrested, but search warrants were served on a total of eight homes. The subjects of those raids say the FBI is targeting anti-war activists, and the search warrants suggest that agents are looking for connections between anti-war activists and terrorist groups.

Although no arrests were made, some of the people whose homes were searched have been subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury.
