CNN
April 25, 2011
Kandahar, Afghanistan

Hundreds of inmates, many of them insurgent fighters, slipped out of a southern Afghanistan prison early Monday through a nearly quarter-mile tunnel dug beneath the compound from the outside.

The Taliban issued a statement taking responsibility for the escape from the prison in Kandahar, the Taliban's birthplace. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahed said digging the tunnel took five months. The escape took four and a half hours, he said.

The Taliban claimed 541 prisoners escaped. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said the number of escaped prisoners was closer to 470. The Taliban said 106 of the escapees were military commanders, but there was no immediate government confirmation of the claim.

Police recaptured eight of the escapees, the Kandahar governor's office said.

Secret government documents leaked to the media last night reveal a top Gitmo detainee vowed to unleash a "nuclear hellstorm" if Osama Bin Laden was ever captured or assassinated.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, claimed Al Qaeda had hidden a nuclear bomb in Europe that was tied to Bin Laden's fate, according to a dump of classified documents released by the WikiLeaks website.

The frightening information was in thousands of pages of dossiers of detainees being held at the controversial Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba.

Kenyan Herder Killed by Al-Shabaab

60-year-old Mohamed Muhumed, a Kenyan herder, was shot in the head several times before his camels were stolen. He had refused to part with five camels as part of his yearly zakat payment. He had become destitute because his home in the Northeastern province of Kenya was undergoing severe drought. When he refused to pay zakat with his one remaining asset to Al- Shabaab, a known terror organization, he was brutally assassinated. Banks, our government and mainstream media would have us believe that zakat is merely “alms for the poor.” Should Muhumed not have been a recipient of this “holy charity”?

Hamey Village, Somalia

A Kenyan herder was on Friday killed in Somalia by members of the Islamist group Al-Shabaab for refusing to part with his five camels as payment for a yearly tax.

The 60-year-old man, identified as Mr Mohamed Muhumed, was among thousands of Kenyans who fled Hamey Village in Damajaley location after a ravaging drought in North Eastern Province.

He is reported to have been shot on the head several times before his entire stock of camels was confiscated.

Muslims are expected to pay zakat, a form of alm, willingly in the first month of the Islamic calendar (Muharaam). The payment can be in the form of animals or money. But in the case of Mr Muhumed there was use of force.

Families of Mumbai Terror Attack Victims Accuse Pakistani Intelligence in Wrongful Death Suit

"Obviously, Pakistan is an ally of the U.S. in the war in Afghanistan and our efforts to fight Al Qaeda. We know, however, that I.S.I. has straddled some fences and while Pakistan is certainly cooperating with us, the I.S.I. has used [Lashkar-e-Taiba] for its own purposes."

Mumbai, India

A wrongful death suit accuses the Pakistani intelligence service of complicity in the Mumbai massacre carried out by the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The suit was filed in Brooklyn Federal Court by relatives of four victims slain in the November 2008 bloody attack and one survivor.

It contends Pakistan's shadowy Inter-Services Intelligence provided support to the gunmen who killed 166 and wounded more than 300 people.

Imam Rauf: The Image Starts to Slip...

Family Security Matters
September 15, 2010

Now that the anniversary of 9/11 is conveniently out of his way, Imam Rauf is coming out fighting, it seems. He is being more adamant that the site of Park51 (the future Cordoba Center) is not situated on hallowed ground. The former Burlington Coat Factory building was damaged during 9/11, 2001, when a fuselage fragment from one of the hijacked planes tore through its roof.

When he was on Larry King Live on September 8, interviewer Soledad O’Brien had suggested to him that a 9/11 relative may be upset that remains of a loved one would be on the spot where he intended to build a mosque. Rauf had replied:

“Well first of all, this is not that spot – this is not Ground Zero proper. This is outside that. No-one’s body is in that location. I am very sensitive to those feelings. As an imam, as any religious person does, we have to minister to the pain and hurt to our congregations and our ministry and our communities.”

On Monday at the Council of Foreign Relations Rauf went further in his assertions that the mosque is not sacred despite the feelings of some 9/11 relatives. He said: “It's absolutely disingenuous, as many have said, that that block is hallowed ground.” He then described the sleazier parts of the neighborhood, such as a burlesque joint and a betting outlet. “So let's clarify that misperception,” Rauf declared.

Former fire chief Jim Riches noted that “The strip club didn't murder my son."
